What a terrible lesson to learn....so sorry for your friend, your bike, and you. Your friend is a very lucky guy that he didn't end up worse off than he did. Knew a gal years ago who was just learning to ride and was going to take a spin "down the block" - she froze and drove right into the side of someone's house. At least she too had put a helmet on first and that helped save her from some serious injury.
